Wilson P. Franklin was born September 16, 1918. He attended Duluth High School where he played football and basketball. Mr. Franklin graduated from Duluth in 1935 as the salutatorian of his class. Receiving an athletic scholarship, he attended Oglethorpe University where he played baseball and football. He was later elected into the Oglethorpe University Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1948, he married Anne Wilhoit and later had two sons -Richard R. Franklin and W. Stevens Franklin. Mr. Franklin was employed by the Coca-Cola Company in 1940. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced from District Sales Manager, and Western Area Manager to become Vice President in 1967. Mr. Franklin retired in 1980. Mr. Franklin passed away in 2005.
